For months now, Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and their former sidekick Vivek Ramaswamy have been rolling out their so-called initiative to root out “fraud, waste, and abuse” in government. This has been framed as a noble cause. A way to restore “common sense” to accountability and efficiency.
But there’s a fundamental problem: these men are some of the most wasteful, fraudulent, and abusive figures in modern history. They are marked by their opulence not their frugality. Being wealthy on paper doesn’t mean they know how to save money or use capital wisely.
You Are A Fraud, and Your Needs Are Wastefully Abusive – To DOGE
The average person hears “fraud, waste, and abuse” and thinks about obvious misconduct – people gaming the system, faking eligibility for benefits, or bilking taxpayers through shady contracts. But in the hands of Musk and Trump, these words take on a different, far more insidious meaning.
They label all public spending that benefits ordinary people as “fraud.” They consider programs that help the vulnerable “waste.” They see anyone receiving assistance as an “abuser.”
Changing What Words Mean Doesn’t Change Reality, Though
It’s not about stopping actual corruption. If it were, they’d be investigating billionaires hiding their wealth offshore, corporations milking government contracts for billions, or the industries that have captured regulatory agencies for their own profit. But that’s not their target. Their target is you.
The Musk-Trump worldview is simple: government exists to serve them and people like them. Everyone else is an expense to be eliminated.
That’s why they rage against social programs but never against the trillions funneled into tax breaks for the ultra-rich. It’s why they call working-class benefits “handouts” but see no issue with Musk taking billions in government subsidies or Trump using the courts as his personal delay tactic. And it’s why they demand efficiency from struggling families while running their own businesses like bloated, chaotic, debt-ridden fiefdoms.
Elon Musk Is Not Efficient At Anything But Lying
Musk, the self-proclaimed efficiency guru, is currently burning through billions as his companies hemorrhage money, tanking the value of Twitter (excuse me, “X”) while alienating advertisers and users alike. Trump, for all his “business genius,” has a history of bankruptcies, unpaid debts, and lawsuits that outnumber his successful deals. If anyone were serious about saving taxpayer money, these two wouldn’t be anywhere near the conversation.

So what is DOGE – their initiative to “clean up government” – really about? It’s about control. DOGE is about defining fraud on their terms. It’s about reshaping the narrative so that the real looters, the real parasites, the real waste, never have to answer for their crimes.
Musk, Trump, and their allies aren’t here to stop fraud. They’re here to redefine it, weaponize it, and use it to further consolidate power at the expense of the people who actually built this country.
And if they succeed, the only ones left standing will be the biggest abusers of all.
